Thank you for your generous donation!
Your contribution makes it possible for us to continue developing programs that help improve the lives of women and girls in disadvantaged communities.
Since its inception in 2010, Seeds to Sew International has raised funds to build a dormitory for the Kakenya School for Excellence in Enoosean, Kenya.
In 2011, we launched our Enkiteng Program to teach basic sewing and business skills enabling women to support themselves and their communities; and the Enkisoma Program allowing young girls and their mothers to bead jewelry as a way to pay for school tuition and other school related expenses.
In 2012, we expanded both programs into two Kenyan farming communities serving over 100 women and children and fully funding school fees for 24 girls in our Enkisoma program.
In 2013, we launched the Githomo Program in Mt. Kenya area, to help a group of girls in the area stay in school.
2014 – 2015
In 2014 & 2015, we have continued to refine and grow our programs to reach more women and girls and have continued to build efficiencies in our operations with the help of our Field Program Managers Maggie, Chris, Calum and Jordan.
In 2016, through collaboration with Global Connections Kenya, we launched a sewing and knitting cooperative with women in Nyamira County. The group of Seeds to Sew emissaries traveled to Kenya (READ MORE) and with their help we raised over $2,000, hired the newly-trained seamstresses to make 167 school uniforms that were then given to orphaned girls in 5 different school in the Nyanchonori area.
Sierra will be traveling to Kenya again in Summer 2017, and she is raising money for more sewing and knitting machines and supplies for the trained seamstresses in Nyanchonori. (READ MORE).
Here in America, we are actively involved with schools and universities to raise awareness about the challenges that women and girls face in the developing countries and how our choices here at home impact communities a world away. We are also continuing to develop the market for the products our participants make as a way to provide income, pay for school fees and provide seed funding for their future initiatives.
