The upcycled reusable bag s are made in Hopewell, NJ by Seeds to Sew volunteers, as a way to raise money for school fees for girls in our education program in rural Kenya.
The upcycled reusable bags are made entirely of donated animal feed bags. After thoroughly washing and drying the animal food bags, we utilize most of the material to make these reusable totes. Any bigger leftovers are used for zipper pouches, key-fobs and other items. Leftover material is terracycled. The bags are a great alternative for our Kitenge Shopping Bags for those who prefer their shopping bag to have a boxed bottom.
If you would like us to make bags using YOUR feed bags; a set of bags with custom tags (for wedding favors, corporate event, etc.), please e-mail us ([email protected]), we’d be happy to help!
If you have cool looking feedbags that you’d like to save from the landfill, drop off the rinsed bags at our shop or mail them to us (16 Seminary Ave., Hopewell, NJ 08525).
If you know how to sew on a machine and would like to volunteer your time and effort to make fundraising products for us (at our shop in Hopewell or remotely), we would love to hear from you! Please e-mail us at [email protected]
