Enkisoma beading program was inspired by a Kenyan girl Agnes Netaya Kimpuk who was outcast from her family at age 14 for refusing FGM and girl-child marriage. Agnes began beading to pay for high school fees in 2011, and graduated High School in 2015. Now the program expanded to 22 girls who are making bracelets, earrings, and necklaces in the the traditional Maasai style as a way to pay for their school fees. All proceeds pay for school tuition and school related expenses outright.
“Enkisoma” is a Maasai word for “education”.
