Nyanchonori Embusuro Women GroupOn behalf of Seeds To Sew International, Hopewell Valley Central High School students are raising money to purchase 2 knitting machines ($300 each), 2 treadle sewing machines ($200 each) and supplies for Nyanchonori Embusuro Women Group in Nyanchonori, Kenya. This is a brand new Seeds to Sew initiative in partnership with HVCHS teacher Dr. Angwenyi and Global Connections Kenya.

The women who will work on the machines will be making school uniforms, sweaters and couch covers which they will be able to sell. The money they make will then allow them to buy a plot of land, cows, goats, education for their children, hygiene products such as soap and toothpaste. They will also grow vegetables, raise chickens and provide food and support to the local people living with HIV/AIDS.

HVCHS students are raising money to buy the machines and supplies, which they will directly give to the women when they travel to Kenya in July of 2016. This effort will change many lives in this Kenyan community, and will be a profound experience for our students. We would like to give a huge thank you to all who donate, in advance.
